Cindy's Pet Services is owned and run by Cindy Christensen, an avid animal lover.
Cindy has a lifetime of experience working with animals of all shapes and sizes.
Having worked on a dairy farm and free-range pig farms (in Denmark), as a horse trail ride guide in the foothills of the victorian mountains as well as having worked in boarding kennels, boarding cattery and an animal shelter and pound.
Cindy has a deep love,respect and understanding of all creatures great and small.
She is an Accredited Dog Training Instructor
She is a Victorian State Govenment approved assessor - Ideal Dogs of Australia (I.D.A)
and has also completed courses in
Advanced Dog Listening (Jan Fennel), Advanced Trick training (Luke Hura) and many many courses including puppy training, doggy dancing,agility and tracking ,along with having her
Animal First Aid Qualifications.
Cindy has taught gentle dog handling skills at the R.S.P.C.A. and to shire rangers.
Cindy has over 10 years experience in the Animal Welfare Sector,working mainly with shelter dogs
(Canine Behaviour Assessment , Behaviour Modification and Rehabilitation programs) and cats,but also caring for sheep,goats,pigs,ducks,chooks and small animals(rabbits,cavies,ferrets,)
During the ten years, she has had plenty of experience with all breeds of dogs, and all different types of problems.Working with over 30.000 dogs!!!
Cindy has been working as a dog trainer for 9 years
instructing puppies (and their families) through puppy school ,basic training and social classes .
and also working with many reactive, anxious and fearful dogs.
Cindy really loves to help people and their animals reconnect on a family level,
she is passionate about pet dog training and works with the philosophy of
"gentle leadership"
combined with motivational and reward-based training.
"Every dog is different and every family is unique" is her favorite quote.
Cindy has lived and worked in the Yarra Valley for 16 years .
Residing in Healesvlle with her own pack of animals;
Byron, chocolate Labrador, now 6 years old, Cindy adopted him at 10 months
Byron is a talented trick's dog and enjoys doing demo's at nursing homes,schools and events
He helps out at puppy school,helps Cindy work with fearful dogs and loves learning new things....
Wally (the BOSS), is a 6 year old tabby and white Cat
who has ruled the house since his arrival 5 years ago.
Wally loves lounging in the sun,sleeping on Cindys head and playing tag with the little dogs .
Rufus, 8 year old Maltese x Shitzu ,
He was extremely timid when he was adopted from Animal Aid,5 years ago.
He enjoys tracking, tummy rubs and chasing rabbits.
Phoebe,
is a little Chia x Tibetan Spaniel that is just 2 years of age.
Phoebe has completed her basic training and is now enjoying flyball & tricks training .
Cindy has been the proud guardian of
Lucy, black labrador, aged 16 years who was Cindys companion since Lucy was just 8 weeks of age.
Jonka- Border collie X ,past at 18 years old, adopted at 10 years.
Pippa- Chia X ,past at 18 years, adopted at 14 years.
Ewok- the biggest toughest ginger cat, past at 16 years, adopted at 12 years.
Chuck - Labrador,past at 7 years ,adopted as 8 week old puppy.
Tinky - Chia X Silky terrier,past at 14 years, adopted at 12 years
Ernie (Rabbit), Bart (turtle),
an avairy of budgies (generally the sick or disabled ones from the pet shops)
mice, a cockateel,indian ring-neck parrots
and many many more pets ,most of them old,sick or displaced animals
in need of love and rehabilitation .
